Short Biography
John has been a resident of Arkansas for most of his life though he has spent time living in Illinois, Washington D.C., Maryland, and Georgia as well. Since college, he has worked as a barista, a real estate appraiser, and a legislative staffer. He is also the owner and sole proprietor of Ahlen Art Studios. At various times in his life, John has been mistaken for a lawyer, a Jehovah's witness, a federal agent, a German national, and a teenage runaway. Notwithstanding the mistaken identities and dubious career path, John aspires to be independently wealthy, living in Florence, Italy, and painting for the sheer joy of it. Forced to compromise his ideals, John would be more than happy to paint for a living, preferably in Florence. While not painting, John devotes his free time to gourmet cooking, devouring the written word, falling off of sailboats, tilting at windmills, and moving houses. He does not recommend the later.
